5.3 Góa siang-chhiú phóng chúi lâi lim [Tâi-gí gí-im]

Tāi-khài tán liáu cha̍p hun-cheng, saⁿ ê siàu-liân--ê peh-kàu soaⁿ-téng. Koh kòe cha̍p hun-cheng, lāu-bú mā kàu ah. Lo̍h-soaⁿ ê sî, góa hām Eikichi thiau-kang lâu tī āu-piah, ná khai-káng chiah ná khí-sin. Kiâⁿ liáu tāi-iok nn̄g-pah gōa bí, bú-niû ùi ē-bīn cháu--kòe-lâi.

"Ē-bīn ū chúi-chôaⁿ. Chhhiáⁿ lín kín-lâi. Ta̍k-ê lóng iáu-bōe lim, tng teh tán lín neh."

Thiaⁿ tio̍h ū chúi-chôaⁿ, góa tō chông--lo̍h-khì. Chheng-khì ê chôaⁿ-chúi tī chhiū-iáⁿ-ē ê chio̍h-khang phùn--chhut-lâi. Cha-bó͘--ê lóng ûi tī chúi-chôaⁿ khiā tio̍h.

"Lâi, chhiáⁿ lí seng lim lah. Góa kiaⁿ chhun chhiú ji̍p-khì ē kā chúi kiáu-lô, tī cha-bó͘ āu-piah lim mā bô chheng-khì," lāu-bú án-ne kóng.

Góa iōng siang-chhiú phóng liâng-léng ê chúi lâi lim. Cha-bó͘--ê m̄-goān án-ne tō lī-khui, in koh the̍h chhiú-kin-á ùn-tâm chhit-kōaⁿ.

Lo̍h-soaⁿ lâi chiap tio̍h kàu Shimoda ê tōa-lō͘, tō khòaⁿ tio̍h kúi-nā ê hiâⁿ chhâ-thòaⁿ ê ian. Góan chē tī lō͘-piⁿ ê chhâ-kho͘ hioh-khùn. Bú-niû khû tī lō͘-piⁿ, iōng hún-âng ê loa̍h-á loa̍h káu-á ê mo͘.

"Loa̍h-á khí ē tn̄g--khì oh," lāu-bú kā liām.

"Bô-iàu-kín. Kàu Shimoda koh bé chi̍t-ki sin ê."

Chū-chiông tī Yugano, góa tō siūⁿ-boeh i sàng góa hit-ki chhah tī thâu-chêng thâu-chang ê loa̍h-á, só͘-í góa mā bô-ài i iōng he loa̍h káu-á mo͘.

Góa hām Eikichi khòaⁿ tio̍h lō͘ tùi-bīn ū chin chē khún tek-á, tō kóng, he chin sek-ha̍p chò koái-á, tō khiā--khí-lâi koh kiâⁿ. Bú-niû ùi āu-piah iōng cháu-ê jiok lâi, gia̍h chi̍t-ki pí i koh-khah tn̂g ê chho͘ tek-ki.

"Lí boeh chhòng siáⁿ?" Eikichi án-ne mn̄g i, i soah m̄-chai án-chóaⁿ hó, kā tek-ki kau hō͘ góa.

"Hō͘ lí chò koái-á. Góa kéng siōng chho͘ ê."

"Bē-sái lah. The̍h chho͘ ê, lâng tō ē chai sī thau--lâi-ê. Hông chai tō m̄-hó ah. Khǹg tò-tńg."

5.3 我雙手捧水來啉 [台語語音]

大概等了十分鐘, 三个少年 ê peh 到山頂. Koh 過十分鐘, 老母 mā 到 ah. 落山 ê 時, 我和 Eikichi 刁工留 tī 後壁, ná 開講才 ná 起身. 行了大約兩百外米, 舞娘 ùi 下面走過來.

"下面有水泉. 請恁緊來. 逐个攏猶未啉, 當 teh 等恁 neh."

聽著有水泉, 我 tō 傱落去. 清氣 ê 泉水 tī 樹影下 ê 石空噴出來. 查某 ê 攏圍 tī 水泉徛著.

"來, 請你先啉 lah. 我驚伸手入去會 kā 水攪濁, tī 查某後壁啉 mā 無清氣," 老母 án-ne 講.

我用雙手捧涼冷 ê 水來啉. 查某 ê毋願 án-ne tō 離開, in koh 提手巾仔搵澹拭汗.

落山來接著到 Shimoda ê 大路, tō 看著幾若个燃柴炭 ê 煙. 阮坐 tī 路邊 ê 柴箍歇睏. 舞娘 khû tī 路邊, 用粉紅 ê 捋仔捋狗仔 ê 毛.

"捋仔齒會斷去 oh," 老母 kā 念.

"無要緊. 到 Shimoda koh 買一枝新 ê."

自從 tī Yugano, 我 tō 想欲伊送我彼枝插 tī 頭前頭鬃 ê 捋仔, 所以我 mā 無愛伊用彼捋狗仔毛.

我和 Eikichi 看著路對面有真濟捆竹仔, tō 講, 彼真適合做枴仔, tō 徛起來 koh 行. 舞娘 ùi 後壁用走 ê 逐來, 攑一枝比伊 koh 較長 ê 粗竹枝.

"你欲創啥?" Eikichi án-ne 問伊, 伊煞毋知按怎好, kā 竹枝交予我.

"予你做枴仔. 我揀上粗 ê."

"袂使 lah. 提粗 ê, 人 tō 會知是偷來 ê. Hông 知 tō 毋好 ah. 囥倒轉."

We had waited about ten minutes when the three younger people reached the top. The older woman arrived another ten minutes after them.On the way down, Eikichi and I purposely hung back, talking at leisure. When we had walked about two hundred yards, the dancing girl came back up from below.

"There's a spring further down. They said you should hurry down. They're waiting until you get there to take a drink."

When I heard they had found water, I ran. Fresh water sprang from between some large rocks in the shade of the trees. The girls stood waitingaround the spring.

"Please, you go first," the woman said. "The water will get all cloudy if we put our hands in. You'd think it was too dirty after us women."

I scooped up the cold water in my hands and drank. The women lingered. They wrung out some damp hand towels and wiped themselves.

When we rejoined the Shimoda highway at the foot of the mountain, we saw several threads of smoke from charcoal-burning huts. We satdown to rest on some timber stacked by the roadside. The dancing girl crouched on the road, combing the puppy's shaggy fur with her pink comb.

"The teeth will break," the woman warned her.

"It's okay. I'll get a new one in Shimoda."

Ever since our stay in Yugano, I had been hoping to be given the comb she wore in the front of her hair as a memento, so I did not want her using it on the dog, either.

Eikichi and I spotted bundles of thin bamboo piled by the roadside. Remarking that it would be perfect for walking sticks, we reached them ahead of the others. Following on our heels, the dancing girl located a thick piece taller than she was.

"What are you going to do with it?" Eikichi asked.

She seemed puzzled for a moment, then held it out to me.

"Here. It's a walking stick. I pulled out the thickest one."

"You can't do that. If someone sees him with the thickest one, they'll know we stole it. We don't want to get caught. Put it back," Eikichi said.
